PADI Courses

Starfish Diving School offers a full range of PADI Recreational Diving Courses from absolute beginners up to training for would-be instructors. Whichever PADI course you choose in our school, from learning to dive to advanced courses or specialty courses, you will immediately be impressed with the friendly, encouraging, professionalism of all our instructors.

All the diving instructors employed at Starfish Diving School are vastly experienced and able to teach in English, Estonian, Spanish and Russian. The ratio of students to instructor is low in our school, which means you get the individual attention you need to make scuba diving a sport you want to return to time and time again!

PADI course manuals and videos (where applicable) are also available in all languages. The schedule of training is flexible and is set up on the first day of the PADI course so as to be convenient for everyone. Starfish Diving School has access to swimming pools for training and is immediately on the seafront of St.George’s Bay for easy access to diving from boat.

Whether you want to learn to scuba dive or are already a scuba diver who is looking for a flexible way to fit another dive course into your busy schedule, PADI’s online scuba programs are the way to go. You can get started immediately with the knowledge development portion of the course and work at your own pace using the PADI eLearning®system. This convenient, interactive study option allows you to learn anytime and anywhere you have an internet connection.

This course is for young divers who are looking for an action-packed, adventurous program filled with exciting scuba “AquaMissions”.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to dive with flashlights, take pictures underwater or float effortlessly like an astronaut? You will learn the basics of safe diving and explore different AquaMissions like wreck, navigation, buoyancy, underwater photography, environmental awareness and more. Discover Scuba Diving

Duration: 2 hours

Today, do something for the first time; experience the thrill of scuba diving under the supervision of a PADI professional. You will master some of the basic concepts of diving in confined water (swimming pool ) and then head off on an open water adventure at an inviting “shallow” reef. Experience the feeling of weightlessness in a new environment and enjoy the vibrant colours and amazing variety of the Mediterranean Sea marine life.

PADI Scuba Diver
PADI Scuba Diver

Duration: 2 -3 Days

The PADI Scuba Diver program is an entry level certification, which is perfect for when you’re on holiday and plan to dive just a couple of times a year.

With this certification, you can dive under the direct supervision of a PADI professional anywhere in the world to a max depth of 12m – a wonderful opportunity to explore your underwater kingdom in comfort and safety with an experienced guide accompanying you. You can also, at any time after certifying as a Scuba Diver, take a short upgrade course to become a PADI Open Water Diver.

PADI Open Water Diver

Duration: 4 -5 Days

This is the course you need before moving on to further training. Armed with your PADI Open Water Diver card, this certification is recognized at dive centers’ worldwide and you will learn to dive safely to a depth of 18m with a buddy (12m for 10 & 11 year olds).

PADI Open Water Referral

Duration: 2 Days

If you’ve already completed the 5 confined water and knowledge development sections of the PADI Open Water Diver course at home, you can complete your open water training on the inviting dive sites of Mediterranean Sea. This will include 4 Open Water dives from the boat or shore. In just 2 days you will gain full certification as a PADI Open Water Diver.

PADI Adventure Diver

Duration: 1 – 1/2 Days

After your Open Water course, why not start a PADI Adventure Diver course and complete some ‘Adventure Dives’? With these dives you’re over halfway there to completing your PADI Advanced Open Water certification. You can also take part in just 1 or 2 Adventure Dives if you prefer and these will also count towards the Advanced certification.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

Duration: 2 – 3 Days

When you have achieved a minimum of 5 ‘Adventure Dives’, in your own time, you are eligible to be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. You can complete these dives either separately or at different times, in different locations or all together over 2 full days accompanied by a Certified Instructor. When booking the full Advanced Course with us, all 5 dives are taken over a 2-day period. This is a great choice if you’re looking to increase your capabilities and gain more experience in different underwater activities.

PADI Emergency First Response
PADI Emergency First Response

Duration: 1 Day

Emergency First Response gives you the skills you need to perform CPR and First Aid. Whether you’re a diver or a non-diver, Emergency First Response helps you to properly handle potentially life-threatening situations.

PADI Rescue Diver
PADI Rescue Diver

Duration: 3 Days

This course is a very important step in expanding your knowledge and experience as well as increasing your confidence. As with all PADI courses, it is ‘performance’ based and involves knowledge development and 5 rescue training sessions (in pool, confined or open water, from shore or boat) plus 4 open water rescue scenarios.

PADI Master Scuba Diver
PADI Master Scuba Diver

The PADI Master Scuba Diver certification is the highest non-professional diver rating in the PADI program and shows superior achievement and experience. To reach this level you must complete all levels of diver training including Rescue Diver, Emergency First Response and 5 PADI Speciality courses as well as a minimum of 50 logged dives. The choice of courses includes Specialties with none and up to 4 training dives.

Some can already be started during the Adventures in Diving program, which can make this additional certification an inexpensive choice. Achieve recognition as a ‘black belt’ in recreational scuba diving.

PADI Divemaster Course
PADI Divemaster Course

Duration: 6 – 7 Days

Your adventure into the professional levels of recreational diving begins with the PADI Divemaster program. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, in this program you expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional level. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.

Scuba Review
Scuba Review

Duration: Half Day

If it’s been some time since you last went diving then Starfish Diving School recommends the completion of a Scuba/Skills Review before diving. Most agencies recommend a Scuba/Skills Review if you haven’t dived for 6 months or longer. The Scuba Review is a short refresher course including a review of the safety information you learned during your initial training along with a supervised skill session in confined water with your Instructor.
