Our PADI Discover Scuba Diving programme gives complete beginners a safe, exciting, and comfortable introduction to scuba diving. You will start with a clear instructor briefing, practise basic diving skills in shallow water, and then enjoy your first guided open-water dive in Malta’s beautiful clear sea.
The dive can go up to 12 metres, but only if you are comfortable. Your instructor will stay with you throughout the experience and will guide the pace so you can relax, breathe, and enjoy the feeling of being underwater.

Your experience begins with a relaxed briefing from one of our professional PADI instructors.
You will learn the essentials of scuba diving, including how the equipment works, how to breathe underwater, how to equalise your ears, how to communicate underwater, and how to stay safe and comfortable during the dive.
No previous diving experience is needed.
Before heading out for your open-water dive, you will practise a few simple scuba skills in shallow, controlled water.
This helps you build confidence before the dive and gives you time to get used to breathing underwater, using the equipment, and moving comfortably below the surface.
Your instructor will be with you the whole time, keeping the session calm, supportive, and beginner-friendly.
Once you are comfortable, you will enjoy your first guided open-water dive in Malta’s clear blue water.
You may explore reefs, rocky underwater landscapes, and local marine life, depending on the dive site and sea conditions on the day.
The maximum depth is 12 metres, but you only go as deep as you feel comfortable. This is not a test, a race, or a scary “push your limits” experience. It is a safe and exciting first step into the underwater world.
Trying scuba for the first time can feel like a big step, especially if you have never breathed underwater before.
Doing it with someone you know makes the whole experience more relaxed, more fun, and much more memorable. You get to share the nervous excitement before the dive, the big smiles afterwards, and the “we actually did that” feeling when you come back to shore.
This offer is perfect for:

The exact timing may vary depending on the dive site, sea conditions, group size, transport, and how quickly everyone becomes comfortable in the water.

Medical: You must complete the required diving medical questionnaire before diving
If you answer YES to any medical questions, you may need written approval from a doctor before you can participate.
Loved your first dive?
Your PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience may count as credit towards your PADI Scuba Diver or PADI Open Water Diver course if you decide to continue.
This makes it a perfect first step if you are curious about getting certified but not quite ready to commit to the full course yet.
After your dive, speak to your instructor about the next step. Many first-time divers choose to continue directly into the PADI Open Water Diver course, which gives you a permanent diving certification recognised worldwide.
After scuba diving, you need to leave a minimum of 12 hours before flying. Please do not book this experience on the same day as your flight. This is NOT a certification course, but an experience to try diving – if you wish to get certified, please see “Continue Your Diving Journey” above.
You will also need to complete the required medical questionnaire before diving. If you answer YES to any medical questions, please bring a medical certificate from a doctor confirming that you are fit to dive.
