The PADI Tec 50 course represents the pinnacle of entry-level technical diving, taking you beyond recreational limits to a depth of 50 meters. Malta’s easily accessible shore-based dive sites provide an ideal environment for deep technical dives, allowing you to experience genuine decompression dives during your training.

What’s Involved in Your Course?

Throughout the PADI Tec 50 training, you’ll conduct actual decompression dives reaching depths up to 50 meters, while:

• Learning to safely execute planned decompression dives using enriched air nitrox and 100% oxygen.
• Mastering the use of desktop decompression software to create custom dive plans and tables.
• Gaining skills and confidence to independently plan and execute technical decompression dives.
• Using a full technical diving configuration with twinset and two stage cylinders.

Optional: PADI Tec 50 Trimix Upgrade

Expand your Tec 50 training with our optional Tec 50 Trimix Upgrade. This addon introduces trimix diving, blending helium, oxygen, and nitrogen to significantly reduce narcosis at depth. You’ll learn to dive safely with trimix containing at least 18% oxygen and up to 50% helium, enhancing clarity, control, and safety during your deepest technical dives in Malta.

Certification Outcomes

With your Tec 50 certification, you’ll be qualified to:

• Independently plan and conduct technical dives up to 50 meters deep.
• Carry two stage cylinders for accelerated decompression using enriched air and up to 100% oxygen.
• Progress confidently into more advanced technical diving and trimix courses.

Duration

• 3–4 days (depending on experience and individual performance)

Requirements

• Certified PADI Tec 45 diver (or equivalent)
• PADI Rescue Diver certification (or equivalent)
• Minimum 100 logged dives, including:
  • 12 dives deeper than 18 meters using enriched air nitrox
  • 10 dives deeper than 30 meters
• Minimum age: 18 years
• Valid diving medical clearance within the last 12 months
